Frequently AskedQuestions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.
What does the $5,000/month engagement include?
A dedicated team each month with software development, process improvement, and AI expertise. We use AI to accelerate everything we do — documenting your processes, analyzing your data, building automations, and producing plans. AI is not optional in our approach; it's how we deliver more value with fewer people and faster turnaround. The engagement starts at $5,000/month and can scale up based on pace or depth of work.
How is this different from other consultants?
Traditional consultants send large teams, produce strategy documents, and bill by the hour. We use AI tools to cut back on the roles needed and provide valuable insights and plans faster. We deliver working improvements — not slide decks. And we implement within your existing tools, not just advise.
Do you actually implement things or just advise?
We implement. We stand up databases, deploy tools like OpenClaw on VPS infrastructure, configure integrations, build automations, and set up monitoring — all using off-the-shelf and open-source tooling. We draw the line at building new systems from scratch. If you need that, we bring in our sister brand OpenBLT or another solution provider of your choice.
What does AI actually do in the engagement?
AI accelerates every part of the work. It drafts process documentation from interviews, analyzes your business data for patterns and bottlenecks, generates reports, automates repetitive tasks, and helps your team answer questions about their own operations. Some of your data will be processed by AI models to produce documentation and planning — that's how we move fast. Without AI, the same work would take three times as many people and three times as long.
What about data privacy with AI?
Some of your data does go through AI models — that's how we produce documentation, analysis, and plans efficiently. But we're deliberate about what goes where. AI sees the slices of information needed for the task at hand, not unrestricted access to everything. We verify that licensing on AI tools doesn't allow training on your data. For sensitive industries, locally-hosted model options are available. We'll walk you through exactly what data goes where before we start.
Do I need to replace my current software?
Usually not. We work with your existing systems first and implement improvements inside them. But we will stand up new infrastructure when it makes sense — a database, monitoring tools, AI agents connected to your communication channels. These are off-the-shelf and open-source tools, not purpose-built systems. We focus on getting more value out of what you already have before recommending anything new.
My team is already overwhelmed. Who owns this?
You own everything we create. As for the work itself — your team's initial involvement is explaining what they do day-to-day and giving us system access. We handle the analysis, the documentation, and the implementation. The goal is to reduce bottlenecks and calm things down, not add to the workload.
How long until I see results?
You should see information-based results almost immediately — insights about how your business operates that you didn't have before. Working automations and improvements within 30 days. If we can't deliver something concrete in the first month, we're not the right fit.
How does my team learn AI tools?
By doing, not by sitting through training. We work alongside your team using tools like Claude Code, Codex, and OpenClaw that connect to the communication channels you already use. Your people start doing things they didn't know were possible: asking questions of their own data, automating repetitive work, generating reports on demand.
What if we're not ready for AI?
AI is core to how we work — it's how we deliver insights and improvements fast. But your team doesn't need to be "ready" for AI to benefit from the engagement. We handle the AI tooling. What you'll notice is faster documentation, cleaner data, working automations, and problems getting caught earlier. Whether that feels like "AI" to your team or just "things working better" doesn't matter.
What happens when the engagement ends?
You keep everything — documentation, automations, databases, tool configurations, subscriptions. Everything is documented in plain language so you can maintain it. Many clients learn to manage things themselves, which is the goal. Many also keep us around because AI capabilities change almost daily and we stay current.
Will this cause fear of layoffs on my team?
That depends on your goals. If you want to scale and do more with your current team, AI helps them handle more volume without adding headcount. But to be honest — you may find that some manual tasks get automated. If you can't find alternative work for those roles, that's a real consideration. The reality is that if you're not doing this, your competitors might be.
What's the relationship between BizDoctor and OpenBLT?
BizDoctor improves the business you already have — automations, documentation, AI integration, team upskilling — all using off-the-shelf tools. We draw the line at building new systems. When something needs to be built, we define the requirements and create the backlog, then OpenBLT builds it with open tools. You own everything. Same team, separate engagements. You can also bring your own developer if you prefer.
